Bachelor of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI)

The Department of Information Sciences graduates technical competencies specialized in computer information systems and their applications with international specifications that keep pace with the needs of the rapidly changing labor market. Through its academic programs, the Department of Information Sciences aims to provide high-quality education in the field of computer information sciences and the field of Data Science & Artificial Intelligence by providing a dynamic academic environment that enhances creativity and innovation in a data-driven world, all through the combination of experienced and competent teaching staff, distinctive, modern, and advanced facilities and laboratories, and clear and defined educational curricula.

Nature of specialization

The academic programs: Information Science and Data Science & Artificial Intelligence are designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in advanced technology and innovation. Graduates from these programs are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in diverse fields within the public and private sectors.

The Information Science program focuses on creating, developing, and applying computer information systems to transform factual data into knowledge using the latest concepts in the field of information and communications technology to develop applications that support the decision-making process and serve public and private institutions.

The Data Science & Artificial Intelligence program prepares the students to excel in the fields of data science and artificial intelligence by providing them with fundamental knowledge, practical techniques, and the skills needed to address local and global challenges in an increasingly data-centric world.

To provide a comprehensive education in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence by equipping students with the skills and knowledge to thrive, innovate, and excel in a data-driven world.

Mission

To prepare students for employment in various Data Science and Artificial Intelligence domains and/or for the pursuit of higher degrees in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence by educating and training them in the fundamental concepts, knowledge and practical techniques and skills needed to be responsible and ethical data science and artificial intelligence practitioners, leaders, and innovators in an increasingly data-driven local and global societies.

Educational Objectives

  1. Engage in productive careers equipped with the knowledge of computing, data science and artificial intelligence to develop and manage data- driven and data-intensive systems that support digital transformation for public and private organizations.
  2. Excel in their workplace by communicating effectively, functioning effectively within a team, and practicing professional ethics with the sense of social responsibility.
  3. Adapt to the challenges of the new technologies in data centric computing, and to pursue life-long learning, broaden their professional knowledge and/or pursue graduate studies.
  4. Contribute to Kuwait workforce with excelled graduates in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

Student Outcomes

  1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
  3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
  4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
  5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
  6. Apply theory, techniques, and tools throughout the data science lifecycle and employ the resulting knowledge to satisfy stakeholders’ needs.

Admission requirements

Admission priority is given to students graduating from the science stream who have the highest equivalent score, calculated based on the high school percentage and the student’s results in the aptitude tests, according to the following weights:

  • 70% of the general secondary certificate percentage
  • 15% of the aptitude test result - English language
  • 15% of the aptitude test result - Mathematics
