Nov 23, 2017: The students of ISC210 visited KNPC as a part of semester field trip. The students were accompanied by the course instructor Prof Paul Manuel. The students were received by senior employees of KNPC IT department. Ms Lulwa Al-Abdullah who is Sr System Engineer guided the students around KNPC. Mr Husain Al-Bustan who is a Team Leader, IT Planning at KNPC briefed the students about various operations of IT department.
The students spent more than one hour in the server room of the IT department. The IT experts of KNPC explained the functions of DELL servers and SUN Oracle servers. They also explained the process of maintenance of the sensitive storage units.
Nov 15, 2017: The Information Science Department at the College of Computing Sciences and Engineering – Kuwait University, organized a field trip to participate in the activities of GIS Day. The event was organized by the Kuwait GIS User Group (KGUG) in aims of spreading awareness about the benefits and applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Students from the department participated and won various prizes in the various activities and competition as part of the event. Prof. Jehad Al Dallal, the Department Chairperson, emphasized the importance of such field trips to expose the students to potential work opportunities as well as prospective employers.

July 18, 2017: Students Field Trip to Dasman Diabetes Institute.
The students of "Introduction to Information Systems" class went on a trip field to Dasman Diabetes Institute (DDI) with Dr. Zainab Al-Meraj and Eng.Sabah Al-Madani on Tuesday, July 18, 2017. They were greeted by Mr. Hmoud Al-Jarahmah, manager in the IT department of DDI, who presented himself to be responsible to guide them during their tour. The visit was divided into a theoretical part initially to be prepared to its practical part then. In the beginning, the students were told a brief history about the institute including its establishment, function, etc. Then they moved to the main subject were they discussed with Mr. Al-Jarahmah their questions about information systems and their applications in DDI. So in order to draw a clear picture of all the aforementioned, the students actual tour at the institute began were they’ve visited the the IT department, Data Center, warehouse, and different venues (conferencing rooms) of DDI sequentially. The students’ knowledge was supported with information from specialists in their field while visiting them in their workplace. This has added a lot to students for their professional life in the future which made them satisfied about the journey and able to link between their studying material and real life. In the end, everyone was thankful to DDI employees for being helpful and providing us part of their time.
